11/11/12 Jones Beach Bike Path after Hurricane Sandy

Our friend Jamie Frank took these photos after the hurricane passed, and offered these comments:

 

We took a ride over to Cedar Creek Park and the Jones Beach Bike Path. The park was filled with emergency vehicles including a special truck that does laundry. They were handing out food and blankets.

The path said it was closed but lots of people were going down it. You could get as far as the toll booths just passed the second bridge. After that there was no more bike path to be seen. I think it was there but it was covered with brush and debris. Two trees were down across the path very close to the park. The Parkway was closed. It was eerie to see it with no cars.
